Death Valley serves as a backdrop for this epic ride! Yamaha FJR1300 vs. Honda ST1300 vs. Kawasaki Concours 14:
Pros of The Yamaha FJR 1300. 1. Powerful Performance: Thanks to a liquid-cooled inline-four 128cc engine, the FJR 1300 has enough power to satisfy most performance enthusiasts. With up to 143 horsepower and 102 lb-ft of torque, the FJR 1300 is ideal for both canyon-carving rides and high-speed cruising. 2.
The FJR (admittedly not perfect in stock form) looks great, sounds like a motorcycle should sound. It's a hundred pounds lighter than the ST and feels two hundred pounds lighter at slow speeds. The FJR's engine is much more responsive and powerful than the ST's although being and inline four it does vibrate a little.

The new Yamaha FJR1300A is a big-torquing sports tourer with a healthy dose of modern technology. While keeping the same lithe chassis, Yamaha has uprated the 1298cc inline four-cylinder engine for even more power and torque, added lashings of electronic wizardry and improved rider and passenger safety, comfort and convenience. The price is up $1000 to $24,999 which equals the Kawasaki 1400
The fjr also has a 26k mile valve adjustment interval, which is a plus if you put alot of miles. For the style of riding i do, the st1300 fits me great. It's comfortable, fast enough and looks great. It doesn't handle the best, its kind of like steering a big ship. The st1300, its a honda. Has a cool engine.
The mt-09 was smaller shorter, and buzzer than the versys, for me. The versys was roomier, had better vibe isolation, and overall, felt more refined. Neither is a substitute for an fjr, but if I had to, I could live with a versys 1000SELT. I couldnât live with an mt-09 as a primary bike. 2022 FJR1300ES.
Yes, a guy could spin that 1400cc's up and throw your self to the ground, but it has good throttle response and tons of torque even at idle. You can leave a stop light with very little throttle, or a guy can wind it up and be moving quickly. Love the shaft drive. You will not "feel" the shaft drive.
Yamahaâs FJR1300A in-line four and Hondaâs ST1300A V4 were the âelder statesmenâ of the bunch, being introduced in 2001 and 2002 respectively. Triumphâs Sprint GT in-line triple arrived at the end of 2010 but is closely related to the first 1050cc Sprint of 2005, while Moto Guzziâs Norge GT, a transverse 90-degree V-twin, first came
The fit and finish are industry leading. During our review, we averaged 35 to 40 mpg. With its 6.6-gallon fuel tank the range will be near 250 miles, and the gas station is visited a bit less
Braking power on the Yamaha is plenty strong enoughâand the ABS threshold high enoughâto haul the big FJR down from speed with authority, but the Unified Brake System prefers that you either
